Swanley Garage Services is a class 4 MOT test centre for customers in the town and surrounding areas. There are various categories of MOT test and as a class 4 centre, we’re approved to carry out tests on cars, small commercial vans and taxis – all of which can be booked online. We’re also able to test private ambulances and minibuses with up to nine seats. Our friendly team will be able to give you a quote for the tests if required.
By law, every vehicle over three years old must undergo an annual MOT test, carried out by a DVSA approved test centre. We have three qualified MOT testers at our garage and a dedicated testing area where they can conduct the test properly and safely.
When we inspect your vehicle, we follow a set of guidelines set out by the DVSA. Your vehicle must meet the standards or it will fail and require repairs before you can safely drive it. We test all the main components of your car to check they are working properly and the car is safe to drive. This includes your brakes, tyres, suspension, exhaust emissions, seat belts, windscreen, lights and the bodywork of your car.
If your vehicle meets the standards set out, then we’ll issue your MOT certificate and you can drive off with nothing to worry about. However, if your vehicle has failed then we recommend getting it fixed before leaving the garage. You can book your MOT test up to 28 days before the existing certificate expires so you’re free to drive off, but you may be putting yourself at risk. If you don’t have a valid MOT on your car then you can face a fine or points on your licence.
If you do fail, our technicians will let you know what work is required, how long it will take and what it will cost. Before they do any work, we’ll ask you to approve the quote so we know you’re completely happy. The work we do will bring your car up to MOT pass standard and once we’re finished we’ll do the MOT re-test. You’ll then be given your MOT test certificate.
